Grand Prize Winner Announced!

Posted by: grltlk on: December 3, 2007

Hey Everyone,

The time has come!! We are so excited to announce that the grand prize winning commercial for Girl Talk’s national Reel Girls, Real Life contest is Kylee Darcy’s “What You Don’t Know!” Kylee’s concept, which aims to highlight the dangerous consequences that her peers might not know about alcohol, was chosen by an esteemed panel judges as well as the “Public’s Vote” winner by more than 20,000 online voters at www.grltlk.org.

The Reel Girls, Real Life contest serves to give young women like you a voice to help fight underage drinking and promote a healthy lifestyle. Kylee Darcy’s winning concept will be produced and distributed as The Century Council’s national commercial which will be released as a public service announcement for prom and graduation season in April 2008. She will receive $5,000 and we will fly her and a parent or guardian to film the commercial with the pros!

Kylee’s efforts to fight underage drinking among teen girls nationwide come at an especially important time as the holiday season is the full swing. The Winter Holidays are a time of great celebration and traditions but it can also be one of the most dangerous times. Sadly, drunk driving and underage drinking are sometimes part of the holiday celebration.

With the fun and excitement associated with the holidays, it is especially important to make the right choice about alcohol. If you are under the age of 21, the only responsible decision is not to drink. Making smart decisions and choosing a healthy lifestyle will ensure that the holidays remain a joyful time.
